Tata Electronics, a key supplier to Apple and Tesla, has confirmed a data breach that could expose sensitive information. The company's parent confirmed the incident involved more than 630GB of files, including potential details on Apple supplier specifications and Tesla manufacturing documents.
Founded in 2020 as part of India’s electronics expansion push, Tata Electronics now operates across the country with over 75,000 employees. The breach comes amidst growing partnerships with global tech giants, highlighting the increasing reliance on India for production.
A spokesman confirmed immediate activation of response protocols but declined to provide specifics about compromised data or customer notifications. Reuters reports some employees at Tata’s iPhone assembly operations were recently informed of the breach, and Apple is investigating.
The incident underlines the global tech supply chain’s vulnerability, as Tata Group strengthens its role in technology production. This could have broader implications for how trust is maintained among key players in the industry.
