Lumo 2.0: AI gets a privacy makeover

Is privacy-focused tech the future, or just a chatbot trying to look cool?

Proton has given its privacy-first AI chatbot Lumo an upgrade. Version 2.0 now boasts image recognition and editing abilities, as well as enhanced project management tools with persistent user memory.

The new version is said to be 76% faster in responding to queries compared to the previous iteration, and comes equipped with a ‘thinking mode’ for tackling more complex issues.

With its zero-access encryption architecture and no server-side logging of sessions, Proton aims to set Lumo apart from other chatbots by ensuring user data remains private. However, it still competes at roughly the same level as Gemini and ChatGPT in terms of functionality.

Proton offers paid tiers for those who want more access and resources, alongside a free public version. The company claims that no customer data is used for AI training or shared with third parties, which could be a selling point for privacy-conscious users.
