Hims & Hers, a telehealth company known for selling weight-loss drugs and sexual health prescriptions, has confirmed a data breach affecting its third-party customer support platform. Hackers managed to break into the system between February 4th and 7th, stealing reams of support tickets containing personal information submitted by customers.
The stolen data includes names and email addresses, although it's unclear whether more sensitive health-related details were compromised. While medical records themselves weren’t targeted, such breaches can still reveal a wealth of private information about users’ accounts and healthcare journeys.
Despite the extent of the breach, Hims & Hers has not confirmed receiving any ransom demands from the hackers. The company attributes the attack to social engineering, where employees were tricked into granting system access.
Cybersecurity experts warn that customer support and ticketing systems have become attractive targets for financially motivated hackers in recent months. This isn’t a one-off; last year, Discord faced a similar breach, exposing government-issued IDs of around 70,000 users who verified their age with the platform.
As telehealth services continue to grow, so do the risks associated with handling sensitive personal information. With data breaches becoming increasingly common, consumers are urged to remain vigilant about sharing their details online and to stay updated on company security measures.
