New data from an anti-surveillance group shows that American cities are terminating their contracts with Flock Safety at an accelerating rate, with 90 localities ending their relationships in August alone.

Communities across the country, from Michigan to Texas, are citing concerns over excessive surveillance and high costs as they cut ties with the surveillance firm.

Secure Justice, an Oakland-based advocacy group, has recorded 214 cities and counties that have dropped Flock since 2021, with a fourfold increase in August 2026 compared to the previous month.

“It’s gone parabolic!” said Brian Hofer, executive director of Secure Justice. “While 210 remains small, the momentum is growing rapidly.”

Flock Safety, however, says new city partnerships have outweighed nonrenewals this year. CEO Garrett Langley vowed privacy improvements, but the momentum seems unstoppable.
