Users reported that their fridges lost power and showed an error message during the update process. The SmartThings app then indicated that the devices were offline. One user noted that the refrigerator’s internal display was stuck showing ‘Checking SmartThings app during update.’

Samsung has not yet responded to questions about the number of affected units or how to prevent such issues in the future. Customers have filed hundreds of complaints, highlighting the inconvenience and waste caused by the malfunction. The issue seems to be confined to Korea, adding to the frustration of owners who trusted Samsung’s updates.
