When it comes to keeping track of your feline companion, the Fi Mini and Tractive Smart Cat Tracker offer advanced features beyond mere location tracking. These trackers monitor your kitty's activity and sleep patterns, sending alerts for changes that might indicate health issues.
After testing these trackers on Basil, my indoor cat, the Fi Mini emerged victorious in battery life, charging convenience, and overall compactness. It lasted up to two weeks on a single charge, whereas Tractive struggled to maintain five days of power.
However, the Tractive Cat 6 Mini boasts more advanced health features. Its app provides personalized activity goals and daily calorie estimates, giving you a deeper insight into your cat's well-being. The app divides sleep into categories, making it easier to analyze patterns.
Despite the Tractive's superior health metrics, both trackers excel in setting up safe and danger zones. The Fi Mini's danger zone alerts were less reliable, with several false positives during testing. However, the Fi's integration with Apple Watch adds a layer of convenience for tech-savvy pet owners.
While both trackers perform well, the choice ultimately depends on your priorities. If you value long battery life and ease of use, the Fi Mini is the way to go. For advanced health tracking, the Tractive Cat 6 Mini might be the better option.
