Spotify Connects Your Faves with SongDNA

A new AI-driven feature shows how music is more than just your favorite singer.

Spotify has launched a new feature called SongDNA, which offers listeners an interactive way to explore the connections between songs and artists beyond what we normally see. By revealing influences, samples, and covers, it provides a deeper understanding of musical history and collaboration.

The feature is part of Spotify’s growing ambition to enhance its platform with detailed insights on music creation. It’s available in beta for Premium subscribers on iOS and Android devices, with plans to complete the rollout by April 2026.

Through SongDNA, users can trace how songs have evolved over time, spotting covers that may surprise them or uncovering new connections between their favorite artists and others. For industry insiders, it serves as a tool for finding potential collaborators and producers who share similar musical influences.

The feature draws on data from the music database WhoSampled, which Spotify acquired last year. It competes with other platforms like TIDAL, which also offer interactive credits focusing on song contributors.

In a statement, Jacqueline Ankner, Spotify’s head of Songwriter & Publisher Partnerships, highlighted the importance of ‘meaningful recognition for the role’ that writers and producers play in creating music. This feature aims to make their contributions more visible and celebrated by users globally.
