Google has rolled out the latest version of its Wear OS software, version 7, which introduces live updates that sync across your Pixel Watch and phone. This feature ensures you stay connected to real-time events such as sports scores or meal deliveries.
The update promises an additional 10% battery life compared to its predecessor, making smartwatches more practical for everyday users. Additionally, Google is integrating Gemini Intelligence into Wear OS, allowing for AI-generated widgets and more sophisticated automation on your watch.
Developers can now create dynamic Wear OS Widgets that are easier to develop than the custom Tiles introduced in 2019. Third-party apps will still support Tiles where necessary, ensuring a smooth transition for users with older devices. Emergency Sharing has also been enhanced, automatically contacting emergency contacts if a fall or car accident is detected.
While these updates improve user experience and functionality significantly, the rollout of AI-generated widgets is set for later this year, promising an even smarter smartwatch experience in the near future.
