Vast Space Stations to Power Up

Max Haot diversifies his portfolio, but does humanity need another satellite?

Vast Space has announced plans to build high-power satellites, in addition to their current project of developing a private space station. The company’s first offering is a 15 kW-class satellite bus designed for demanding missions and capable of supporting various applications such as telecommunications, observation and data services.

Each satellite measures around 3 meters long and 4 meters tall, weighing in at 700 kg with a payload capacity of at least 350 kg. With a design lifetime of five years, these satellites will operate from low-Earth orbit to the Moon. Vast Space is also planning to offer an Nvidia Space-1 Vera Rubin Module for orbital data center inferencing needs.

The technology for the satellite bus has been largely ported over from their Haven-1 space station, which is set to launch next year as the world's first private space station. However, some new elements are required, including in-house development of electric propulsion and a deployable solar array.

Vast Space has already secured a customer for four satellites with an option to purchase up to 200 more. The company is aiming to launch at least ten Vast Satellites by the fourth quarter of 2027, marking another step in their ambitious space mission.
