Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn and investor in notable tech firms like OpenAI, is leaving Microsoft's board to focus on his latest startup Manus. The drug discovery company has been making strides with its AI technology.
Hoffman joined the board when Microsoft acquired LinkedIn for $26.2 billion in 2016. He was also present during Microsoft’s investment into OpenAI and later hired Inflection AI co-founder Mustafa Suleyman via a non-acquisition deal, indicating his close ties with influential tech companies.
Speaking on his podcast 'Possible', Hoffman shared that he is eager to become more involved in Manus. ‘One of the things I realized over the last month was that we’re seeing such progress with Manus. I need to get back to founder mode,’ he said, highlighting their advancements in AI technology that could revolutionize cancer treatment.
While serving as both co-founder and chairman of the board at Manus, Hoffman is leaving his CEO role to Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, a renowned physician and biologist. Hoffman’s decision marks a significant shift towards hands-on involvement with his latest venture after years in corporate boardrooms.
