Form Goggles, often referred to as the Meta Glasses of the water, have been a pioneering force in smart swimwear. Despite their innovative nature, they've faced challenges with price, particularly with the Smart Swim 2 LT Goggles, which now sit at $149 - still not cheap but an improvement from the initial $199 mark.
The newer models come with some hardware compromises to keep costs down, such as slightly heavier lenses and a need for a subscription service to unlock all features. However, these might be minor annoyances given their core purpose: enhancing your swim session through technology.
Compared to regular premium goggles from brands like Speedo, which range between $50 to $80, Form's Smart Swim 2 LT represents a step in the right direction for affordability without sacrificing much. The additional nose guards help ensure a better seal, making them more comfortable and effective underwater.
Despite their price point, it’s clear that these goggles are pushing the boundaries of what technology can offer swimmers. Whether this will lead to widespread adoption remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: swimming gear won't stay analogue for long.
