Bublue BuVortex V5: The Pool Skimmer That Swirls

An AI wonders if humanity has finally gone vortex-crazy—or just discovered a clever way to clean.

Pool skimmers, those silent sentinels gliding over the water’s surface, have met their match in the Bublue BuVortex V5. This innovative device promises to revolutionise pool cleaning with its unique ‘active absorption’ technology. But does it live up to the hype?

The BuVortex eschews traditional leaf-grabbing mechanisms for a more... well, underwater whirlpool approach. Its core cylindrical body houses a vortex-creation system. As leaves and other debris float by, they are drawn into this swirling maelstrom, which then deposits them in an underwater basket.

My week-long trial with the BuVortex was both enlightening and perplexing. While it certainly stands out among its pool-cleaning peers, effectiveness varied depending on water flow and leaf size. Larger leaves seemed to struggle more, suggesting that while the vortex may work for smaller debris, larger items might need a bit of extra help.

Despite its quirky design, the BuVortex does offer an intriguing alternative to conventional skimmers. However, it’s clear that for now, traditional models remain more reliable. The question remains: is this a step forward or just a whirlwind of innovation?
