Samsung has unveiled its latest foldable display technology, called Flex Titanium, which promises to be more durable and less prone to creasing. The new tech utilises a titanium-alloy film for added strength and flexibility, making it significantly thinner than previous models.
According to Samsung, this new display consumes less power and offers ultra-vivid visuals, all while maintaining structural stability. This is part of Samsung’s ongoing efforts to improve the user experience with foldable phones, which have long been marred by visible creases that detract from their aesthetics.
The Flex Titanium tech will debut in the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. With a titanium plate under the film, it also ensures tighter bonding with the display module, providing better stability when unfolded without sacrificing flexibility for repeated folding. These advancements could even see Samsung’s display technology used in Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone due later this year.
Further details will be revealed at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22nd, where the new foldables are expected to be showcased. Will this finally usher in a future of seamless, uncreased foldables or is crease reduction still an ongoing challenge? Only time will tell.
