Ford has unveiled its latest prototype, a Hypercar designed to compete in the gruelling 24 Hours of Le Mans. This car could bring back Ford’s glory days after it last won overall in 1969.
The Le Mans track at Paul Ricard welcomed two drivers, Matt Campbell and Logan Sargeant, who are currently testing the car's speed and reliability. Aiming for success, this Hypercar marks a return to top-level endurance racing, despite previous failed attempts in the past.
Competing in the Hypercar category means choosing between LMH or LMDh regulations. Ford opts for the latter, meaning they can source engines from suppliers while focusing on their own design and build of key components like the hybrid system’s electrical motor.
The last time Ford won at Le Mans was with a privately entered GT40. Now, after a 50-year gap in overall wins, hopes are high for a victory that could reignite its passion for auto racing excellence.
