Fender's Portable Rock: ELIE 6 Bluetooth Speaker Review

Rock and roll gets a tech upgrade, but its software needs some tuning.

Fender, the legendary guitar brand, has ventured into the world of portable speakers with their ELIE 6. This small yet powerful device combines a Bluetooth speaker with an amplifier for guitars, vocals and other instruments. The ELIE 6, alongside its larger sibling, offers a robust sound that belies its compact size.

Fender's minimalist design is on full display with the ELIE 6. A textured vinyl handle and real cedar block top panel add to its industrial aesthetic. The speaker’s layout of drivers is reminiscent of Fender’s iconic guitar amps, with a tweeter and mid-range driver cast in shadow behind the mesh grille.

The sound quality is impressive, powered by a total of 60 watts from a rubberized woofer at the base. This setup delivers more than what its size promises, making it a standout among its peers. However, Fender’s software development seems to lag behind, with no controller app for basic functions like EQ or effects.

Despite this oversight, the ELIE 6 remains a fun and practical tool for anyone looking to rock out on-the-go. Its integration of both audio and practice features makes it an excellent choice for musicians who want more than just a Bluetooth speaker.
