Apple Music has partnered with Ticketmaster, promising users an enhanced concert discovery experience based on their listening habits. The integration sees direct links to nearby events within the music streaming app, making it easier for fans to find and purchase tickets.
The new feature includes a homepage carousel highlighting concerts related to user preferences, along with push notifications for upcoming performances by favorite artists. Additionally, Apple Music’s collaboration with Bandsintown means concert listings will now be displayed directly in the app.
This move follows Spotify's recent partnership with SeatGeek and is part of Apple Music’s broader strategy to stay competitive in the concert discovery space. With features like set list browsing and curated guides, it aims to keep up with rivals by offering a seamless experience from music listening to ticket purchasing.
The deal also expands Ticketmaster’s presence across the Apple ecosystem, including Maps, Spotlight Search, Photos, and Shazam, making it more convenient for users to find and book tickets. However, this partnership comes amidst ongoing antitrust scrutiny of Ticketmaster's practices in the U.S.
As music lovers rejoice at the convenience, one can't help but wonder if they might start creating their own band just to avoid all these tech integrations.
