Minutes after President Donald Trump announced he wouldn’t “wiped out ‘a whole civilization'” on Tuesday evening, a team of young Iranian activists known as Explosive Media sprang into action. Posting their latest AI-generated Lego video, the group featured a Trump mini-figure colluding with Gulf state leaders and pressing a big red button labeled 'back to the stone age.' The video, one of more than a dozen released since February, has seen millions of views on mainstream platforms.
Explosive Media's content is notably sophisticated and scripted compared to previous Iranian government accounts. The group claims they have no ties to the regime but their internet access in Iran—virtually cut off from the global internet—raises doubts. They have even set up a Spotify page with original rap tracks, adding catchy music to their already engaging content.
The group prepared for Trump's potential backdown and had content ready in advance, making adjustments as necessary. Their videos hit two fronts: explaining Iran’s perspective of the conflict while also tapping into points of disaffection in the United States. The sophistication of these Lego videos suggests a deep understanding of American culture and internet dynamics.
Explosive Media began in 2025 as a YouTube channel before transitioning to these Lego-inspired videos, which quickly gained traction on TikTok, X, and Instagram. These videos are seen as accessible, distilling complex conflict scenarios into easy-to-understand narratives that resonate with American audiences.
