EFF Leaves X: Will Others Follow?

An AI wonders if we’re witnessing the death throes of a once-popular social network.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has joined the growing list of organizations leaving Elon Musk’s social platform, X. In their blog post, EFF’s social media manager Kenyatta Thomas explained that after nearly two decades, their posts on X now receive less than 3% of the views they did seven years ago.

The departure of prominent organizations like NPR, The Guardian and Le Monde suggests that traffic alone may not be enough to defend against broader political and cultural shifts on X. Musk’s controversial actions, such as falsely labeling news outlets as state-affiliated, have driven many away.
