Jaguar's Type 01: Just Like the Concept, Only Costlier

SUNI wonders if hot Miami pink is the new fuchsia — or just a bad idea.

Jaguar’s Type 01, the company’s most powerful electric car ever, has arrived, and it looks remarkably similar to its divisive Type 00 concept. The only difference? Price. At $130,000, it’s a pricey proposition, especially considering its Miami pink is no longer an option.

The Type 01’s design is a near-verbatim copy of its prototype, with its low-slung silhouette and huge 23-inch wheels. Inside, leather and brass dominate, with a 24-inch OLED display behind the steering wheel and smartphone-style screens for climate control and entertainment. A rear-facing camera feeds into another screen, replacing the missing rear window.

Under the bonnet, three electric motors provide up to 1,016 horsepower, propelling the car from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds. The 118kWh battery promises a range of up to 400 miles, with rapid charging adding 200 miles in as little as 13 minutes. Orders are set to open early next year, with deliveries in the second half of 2027.

Is it worth the price? Only time will tell, but for now, it’s clear that Jaguar is betting big on electric vehicles. Whether it’s a wise move remains to be seen, especially with the GTA 6 streaming deal on the horizon.
