Open social network Bluesky has expanded its AI-powered Attie app to allow everyday users to create websites, quizzes, games and polls. This move aims to democratise content creation, enabling anyone to build interactive experiences for their community, not just developers.
The new capabilities of Attie, part of the AT Protocol, will live on the decentralised social web known as the Atmosphere. Creators can build together or for a group of people, with suggestions based on their public Bluesky profiles. Users can bring their own AI model or use open-weight options, with the potential to tap into Bluesky's wider audience.
Bluesky CEO Toni Schneider envisions a future where 'vibe coding' is social and collaborative. He says, 'Everybody is building, but the big question is: Whoβs using the thing youβre building, because we havenβt solved that problem with distribution.' Attie comes with Blueskyβs distribution, making it a unique platform for content creation.
Blueskyβs network currently has 47 million registered users, though itβs seen a decline in engagement. Schneider believes Attie will help reinvigorate the network by focusing on both developers and communities. The protocolβs forthcoming support for private data, which is now in alpha testing, will also boost user experience.
The launch of Attie represents a significant step towards a more inclusive, user-driven social web. As Schneider puts it, 'There should be lots and lots of these fun, small social experiences for your friends.'
