In 2024, streaming platforms announced that the third and final season of Good Omens would be a single 90-minute episode. This decision followed allegations against creator Neil Gaiman, who has since stepped back from the project while denying the accusations.
The show is based on the original 1990 novel by both Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It tells the story of Aziraphale, an angel, and Crowley, a demon, who, over millennia, become friends and work together to avert Armageddon. Season two saw their lives disrupted when Gabriel, an archangel with amnesia, arrived at Aziraphale’s bookstore.
The season-two finale left viewers on a cliffhanger: Gabriel had defied Heaven by not supporting the second attempt to bring about Armageddon, hiding his memories from himself. Meanwhile, he and Beelzebub had fallen in love and ran off together. Metatron offered Aziraphale Gabriel’s old job, leading Crowley to profess his own love for the angel, leading to a bittersweet goodbye.
The season three trailer is set to reveal how this all plays out, with Aziraphale learning his task was to bring about the Second Coming. Crowley’s fate remains unclear, but one can only hope for more of their ethereal romance.
