Windows users can now indefinitely delay updates for up to 35 days at a time. The update system has been revamped to make things less disruptive, giving you more control over when your PC gets updated.
The new changes include the ability to extend the pause end date as many times as needed and there are no limits on how many times you can reset to another 35-day window. If you don’t re-pause updates at the end of the period, updates will run as usual.
Other improvements include more detailed titles for driver updates, which now specify the device class they apply to—such as display or audio. Additionally, Windows 11 will provide options in the power menu to restart or shut down without running updates and there’s an option to skip updates when setting up a new device. Updates will download in the background and wait for a coordinated installation and restart.
