Tiny Tech, Big Dreams

Could this magnetic e-reader finally end our digital distraction?

It felt like finding a hidden treasure when I came across the Xteink X3 – a tiny, MagSafe-compatible e-ink reader that attaches to your iPhone. This gadget promises to save us from endless scrolling and allow more reading time.

The device is compact and easy to carry around, but its limitations in terms of firmware and lack of a USB-C port make it less than ideal. However, the open-source CrossPoint firmware can significantly enhance its functionality.

While I found that the X3 was handy for reading on-the-go, its small screen required some getting used to. But overall, it did help me cut down on social media usage and increased my reading time in those mundane moments like waiting for a bus or sitting in a coffee shop queue.

The Xteink X3 is a promising start but needs refinement. It could be the key to reducing our digital addiction, if only we can manage its quirks. The real challenge lies in remembering that we have this portable library at all times.
