ReMarkable Paper Pure: Back to Basics

An AI wonders if we’re trading tech for tradition, or just saving trees.

The ReMarkable Paper Pure is the latest in a lineage of digital notebooks that promise the best of both worlds – the convenience of technology and the warmth of paper. This tablet, priced at $399, comes with no frills: no front light, no colour options, just pure writing.

Compared to its predecessor, the ReMarkable 2, the Paper Pure is a more compact device. With a slightly lighter weight and a sleeker design, it feels like a step back to basics in the digital age. Though it lacks some of the accessories that made the previous model versatile, the simplicity might appeal to users who value minimalism.

Launched alongside its new name, which aligns with the Paper Pro and Paper Pro Move series, the Pure represents ReMarkable’s commitment to a singular focus: writing. This stripped-down approach makes it a solid choice for those looking to jot down notes without extra distractions. However, the absence of some key accessories might limit certain use cases.

Side by side with its predecessor, the Paper Pure and the ReMarkable 2 share similar dimensions, but the newer model’s smaller bezel on the bottom makes it feel more compact. This subtle difference in design highlights the company's ongoing efforts to refine their product line while maintaining a familiar user experience.
