Ashnymph, a London band blending post-punk melodies with Krautrock rhythms and industrial grime, have unleashed their debut EP Childhood. The opening title track 'Island in the Sky' sets the tone with its motorik beat and thin vocals before morphing into a chorus reminiscent of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. 'Saltspreader', the first single, is a dark, dancey earworm that drives home Ashnymph’s unique sound. 'After Glow' and '47' continue the gothic theme, referencing Depeche Mode and No Wave acts like Swans. The EP’s final track, 'Mr. Invisible', takes things down an experimental path with heavily manipulated samples and offbeat vocals.
The band’s sound is a thrilling mix of industrial synths, post-punk guitar, and dancefloor rhythms. It’s clear they are pushing the boundaries of what can be considered goth-rock, creating a fresh and exhilarating experience for listeners. Childhood is available now on Bandcamp and major streaming platforms.
