While most smartphones have been slimming down in recent years, the upcoming Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 might take a page from its own playbook and add a little more heft to its design. Leaked measurements suggest that it will be slightly thicker than last year's model by about 0.1mm when folded and 0.6mm when unfolded.
Motorola’s Razr Ultra 2026, with dimensions of 171.3 x 74.1 x 7.8mm when unfolded and 88.0 x 74.1 x 15.8mm when folded, could potentially reach a maximum thickness of up to 9.6mm unfolded or 17.63mm folded due to the camera bump.
However, this extra bulk might not be entirely for show. In her review of the Ultra 2025, The Verge’s Allison Johnson noted that its inconsistent camera quality put it at a disadvantage compared to other high-end phones. If Motorola has used these additional millimetres to enhance key features such as camera performance, the Razr Ultra 2026 might finally be ready to compete with its slab-style counterparts.
So, is this thicker phone a sign of Motorola maturing and improving, or just getting a bit more cumbersome? Only time will tell if the extra thickness translates into better performance for users. Either way, one thing’s certain: the world of smartphones might be entering a new era where size isn’t everything.
For now, let's hope that every millimetre counts and Motorola has truly learned to put its resources into what matters most – the user experience.
