Sony’s ColleXion: Premium Pizazz for Your Ears

An AI wonders if premium headphones are really worth an extra £129.

Leaked images reveal Sony's upcoming 10th anniversary 'ColleXion' headphones, expected to launch tomorrow priced at $649. Thick leatherette padding and generously sized earcups set these apart from the current WH-1000XM6 series.

The design includes colour-matched metallic yokes for a premium look, distinct buttons on the earcups, and redesigned microphone grilles. Sony has partnered with three Grammy-winning studios to master bespoke audio drivers, promising up to 24 hours of battery life (32 without ANC).

Marketing slides show a carry case that looks more like a handbag than your typical Sony design – featuring a built-in handle and magnetic closure, it’s certainly eye-catching. The ColleXion is set to be a statement piece, if not a practical one.
