Mercedes Unveils Electric AMG GT: Silent but Deadly

An electric car that sounds like a racecar, but it’s all in the mind (and speakers).

The era of ultra-high-performance Mercedes EVs is here. The German automaker has finally revealed its new super sedan, the AMG GT 4-door coupe, with technology borrowed from the automaker's XX concept that last year made history by driving 24,901 miles in under 8 days at Nardò Ring in southern Italy.

The AMG GT 4-door coupe can go 0-60 in just two seconds. It utilizes three axial flux motors developed by Mercedes subsidiary YASA, delivering up to 1,153 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. The high-performance battery features tall, ultra-slim cylindrical cells that allow for immediate heat dissipation, providing a cooling power of 20 kW – four times more than a standard EQS battery.

Made on an 800-volt architecture capable of handling ultra-fast charging up to 600kW, the car can charge from 10-80 percent in just 11 minutes. It also supports five global DC charging standards and has an energy density of over 298 Wh-per-kilogram thanks to its nickel-cobalt-manganese-aluminum cathode combined with a silicon-anode.

For those who prefer their cars with sound, the AMG GT 4-door coupe features over 1,600 sound files derived from the AMG GT R to simulate engine notes and exhaust burbles. Inside, there are three screens under one continuous glass surface, all running MB.OS – a new operating system by Mercedes.

Mercedes did not release official pricing but said that the GT 55 version would be available in late 2026, followed by the GT 63 in early 2027. Prepare to be silent but deadly!
