Ferrari, the iconic Italian sports car marque, has unveiled its first electric vehicle (EV), the Luce. The car features both minimalist design and an abundance of buttons, standing out as the company's second four-door model and its inaugural five-seater.
Notably, Jony Ive and Mark Newson, collaborating through their studio LoveFrom, were heavily involved in the project from the outset, shaping both inside and out. Observers noted a departure from traditional sports car design, likening it to an SUV in feel rather than form. Despite limited hands-on testing, the car is set to boast 1,035 horsepower from four motors.
One unique feature highlighted was the sound system, which picks up vibrations from rear motors for a more authentic, less synthesized auditory experience compared to many other EVs. Pricing starts at €550,000 in Italy, making it the most expensive Ferrari yet.
Ferrari’s move into electric is as much a technological statement as an aesthetic one, signaling a broader shift in luxury automotive design and engineering towards sustainability and innovation.
