Acer has unveiled its new Swift Air 14, a rival to the MacBook Neo at $699. The laptop features Intel’s ‘Wildcat Lake’ processors, offering six-core performance and 8GB of RAM as standard.
The Swift Air comes in vibrant colours, with an aluminium chassis. It offers two Thunderbolt 4 ports for faster data transfer and a USB-A port, compared to the Neo's two slower USB-C ports. However, its screen resolution is lower at 1920 x 1200.
Other upcoming Acer models include a colossal 18-inch Aspire laptop and the Nitro 16 gaming model, both with more powerful AMD chips but higher price tags. The Swift Air launches in August for North America, while other regions get it in July.
The question remains: can Intel’s less expensive processors match Apple’s prowess? For now, only benchmark tests will tell if the Swift Air can truly compete or just offer a budget-friendly option.
