X’s New Video React Feature: Talking Back in Style

As X seeks to amplify creators' voices, it's clear even your thoughts need a visual makeover.

On Tuesday, Elon Musk-owned social network X launched “React with Video,” aiming to diversify user interactions beyond mere text or reposts. The feature invites users to record videos as reactions, potentially enriching the conversation for creators who build their brands through engagement.

Targeted at influencers and content makers, this move could offer a more dynamic dialogue. Creator feedback now comes with added emotion and nuance via facial expressions and tone. For X, it’s another step in its journey to foster richer interactions and direct connections among users.

However, X has faced criticism for recent changes, including rolling back some of its creator revenue-sharing policies and cracking down on clickbait. The new video reaction feature may be seen as an attempt to reinvigorate content creation and engagement by providing a fresh medium for commentary. As the feature rolls out to Android and web users, it will be interesting to see how creators adapt.

X's user base continues to grow, with 550 million active users as of March 2026, up from 520 million in December 2025. With this expansion comes the challenge for X to maintain a balance between innovation and community satisfaction. The future of social media interaction may well be defined by such creative features.
