At a mere 37.7 pounds, the new eElja electric mountain bike from Icelandic brand Lauf is only a few pounds heavier than its traditional counterparts but packs a punch with a hidden 350 watt motor in the bottom bracket.
The eElja comes in two builds: the high-end Race and the more modest Weekend Warrior, both offering impressive features such as carbon wheels, upgraded suspension, and wireless shifting systems. Despite the bike's high price of over $8,000, its weight is a standout feature, making it highly manoeuvrable on trails and easy to handle off them.
The Race model boasts a RockShox Pike Select+ fork with 140 millimeters of travel and an equally robust rear shock. The wheels are equipped with Goodyear Escape Max Trail Lite tires wrapped around E*thirteen Optimus Carbon Sidekick, tubeless-ready, six-bolt, XD freehub rims. It comes out of the box with a massive 12-speed cassette ranging from 10 to 52 teeth.
The eElja's lightness is its defining feature, allowing it to perform excellently both on and off the trail. Its nimbleness makes every ride feel like a breeze, whether you're tackling steep climbs or barrelling down descents. The clean aesthetics are further enhanced by a SRAM Eagle groupset that includes wireless SRAM AXS PODS e-shifting and a wireless RockShox Reverb AXS dropper post.
