Threads Soars to 500M Users; New Tools Tweak Your Feed

As Threads gains traction, it’s not just about following trends; users now get to curate their own.

Nearly three years after launching as a rival to X, the Meta-owned platform Threads has reached 500 million monthly active users. The latest update introduces 'Your Algo', allowing users more control over what they see in their feed without needing to share public posts.

The new feature enables users to privately request more or less of specific topics for one, three or seven days. This personal touch aims to give Threads an edge over competitors like X while enhancing user experience.

Another update sees the launch of 'Communities' out of beta, providing dedicated spaces for conversations around topics such as books and K-pop. A new ‘Communities Hub’ makes it easier to find these dedicated spaces within the app.

The expansion of Live Chats is also on the cards, with more communities able to host real-time discussions during cultural events like the FIFA World Cup. This addition could help Threads close the gap in its competition with X when it comes to timely conversations and content.
