In a bid to reclaim its celebrity, the once billion-dollar app Cameo has partnered with TikTok. Now, U.S.-based content creators can offer personalized Cameo messages directly within the short-form video giant, making it easier for fans and broader audiences to connect.
With TikTokers comprising one of the fastest-growing segments on the platform, Cameo is capitalizing on this trend, hoping to boost earnings and regain lost ground. The partnership comes at a time when the company has faced significant financial challenges, including a hefty fine from the Federal Trade Commission and a steep valuation drop.
While TikTok already offers features like tipping and virtual gifts, the new integration simplifies access for fans, who can now request personalized messages through content they are already engaging with. Cameo CEO Steven Galanis has expressed optimism about the partnership, citing viral videos on TikTok and strong performance among TikTok stars on Cameo.
The move reflects a broader trend in media where companies increasingly leverage influencers to enhance their offerings. Streaming services like Tubi and Peacock have also partnered with popular creators to produce original content. As for Cameo's future, the new integration arrives alongside other announcements about ad formats and hidden games within direct messages.
