Google has unveiled the latest iteration of its in-house image generator, Nano Banana 2 Lite. This model boasts a significant reduction in processing time—producing images in just four seconds—and is priced affordably at $0.034 per 1,000 images.
The new release follows previous versions that introduced more realistic imagery and enhanced capabilities for creating content on a large scale. While Nano Banana Pro remains an option for advanced users, the Lite model is specifically designed for high-volume workflows requiring speed.
Despite concerns over AI-generated image quality, companies continue to invest heavily in such tools due to their potential to streamline content creation processes. However, these advancements come with trade-offs, highlighted by Google’s recent deal with A24, a move that has faced criticism from creative communities and audiences alike.
The Gemini Omni Flash is also being rolled out more widely, enabling the generation of video at $0.10 per second. Moreover, Google has showcased a new demo app called Omni Product Studio, which can transform static images into cinematic e-commerce videos, further integrating generative media into everyday content creation.
Google’s blog suggests that building with generative media is about creative iteration and highlights how these two models empower developers to create comprehensive multimedia experiences by combining rapid image generation with video creation and editing.
