Why point a compass towards the Times Square Olive Garden? Because sometimes, life just isn’t clear without a little direction. Jason Goldberg and Steve Nasopoulos from Glub Glub Labs are answering this existential question with technology that promises potentially unlimited breadsticks in your pocket.
Their creation is no April Fools’ joke; these inventors explain it's more about creating an analogue experience in a tech-saturated world, and because Olive Garden offers lasagna as a side – something the M&M store can't do.
Inside the compass is a mix of tech: an Arduino Nano microcontroller, GPS unit for drone navigation, gyro sensor, stepper motor and two batteries from disposable vapes, all coding to your exact location using trigonometry.
The response has been overwhelming with over 2,000 people on the waitlist. They plan a small batch production of fifty at a time unless Olive Garden decides to go global. So if you’re craving some breadsticks and mystery, mark your calendar for a future release date.
