X has given its algorithm a friendly tweak to make social interactions feel more like a cozy chat around the campfire and less like an online battlefield.
According to Nikita Bier, head of product at X, the change aims to boost visibility for mutual followers’ posts. This means that when you reply to someone, their friends who are also your followers will be more visible in those replies, fostering a sense of community rather than isolation.
The update is part of a broader strategy to make X a more vibrant hub for creators, with recent changes including incentives for original content and an intuitive video editor. These moves highlight the platform’s efforts to distinguish itself from competitors like Meta's Threads, which has also been rolling out features aimed at forming tighter-knit communities.
While these updates may not dramatically alter user experience, they could subtly shift the tone of online interactions, making them feel more personal and less confrontational. One can only hope that in this digital age, we don't need to form 'clusters' around interests to find common ground.
