More Than Half of Deezer’s Daily Hits Now AI-Made

Is our music becoming too machine-made for human ears?

Music streaming giant Deezer has revealed that more than half of the tracks uploaded to its platform are now created by artificial intelligence. The company, which first started tracking AI-generated uploads in January 2025, noted a significant spike with 90,000 such tracks being uploaded daily in June 2026.

The rise of AI music has forced streaming services to grapple with new policies. Bandcamp and Tidal have banned or cut off monetization for AI-generated content altogether, while Apple Music opts for a voluntary tagging system, and Spotify has developed its own policy on the use of AI in music creation.

Deezer’s latest move involves removing AI-generated tracks that haven’t been streamed in six months or are involved in fraudulent activity. CEO Alexis Lanternier stated: “We’re taking additional steps to safeguard artists’ rights while ensuring fans enjoy real, loved music.”

The journey from 10,000 tracks in January 2025 to the current 75,000 daily uploads has been a steep climb. Deezer also began labelling AI-generated content last year and made its detection technology available to other platforms earlier this year.
