Midjourney, the startup known for its diverse range of AI-generated images—from cute cats to detailed ultrasounds—has now set its sights on the stars. The company has acquired Co-Star, a personalized astrology app that promises daily horoscopes and compatibility checks.
The move marks Midjourney’s foray into creating its first apps, with Co-Star's founder Banu Guler joining as chief design officer to guide this venture. Guler will also remain in charge of the astrology app post-acquisition, ensuring users continue to receive their daily dose of celestial wisdom and compatibility insights.
Co-Star leverages a mix of human insight, NASA data, and AI to provide personalized advice each day. While the terms of the acquisition are not disclosed, Midjourney founder David Holz sees this as an opportunity to build more apps dedicated to image generation alongside Co-Star.
For those who believe in celestial omens or simply enjoy a good daily horoscope, this development might seem like a natural progression for AI. However, it’s worth pondering whether these digital stars truly have the power to shape our destinies—or if they’re just providing a sprinkle of cosmic charm to our lives.
