A new chapter has opened for Android users as Google's much-maligned Play Store now hosts rival app stores. Aptoide, a game-focused alternative, is now available within the Play Store itself, marking a significant shift after years of resistance from Google.

This development came about thanks to a long-running antitrust battle between Epic Games and Google. Judge James Donato's ruling required several changes, including hosting third-party app stores in the Play Store alongside other remedies like lowering developer fees and mirroring apps across multiple platforms.

For many, this move means smoother access to Aptoide’s 1.9 million apps and 295,000 games without sideloading. However, with only a limited selection currently on offer, users will have to wait for more content to arrive before the alternative store truly competes with Google's offerings.
