Netflix is launching a stand-alone app for kids’ games called Netflix Playground. The app, available as part of a Netflix subscription, offers an ever-growing library of games featuring characters from popular shows and is designed for children aged eight and under.
The games include titles such as “Playtime With Peppa Pig” and “Sesame Street,” where players can jump into Peppa’s world with playful activities or practice matching and coordination. The app can be accessed offline, making it perfect for long flights or trips to the supermarket.
John Derderian, Netflix vice president of Animation Series + Kids & Family TV, said in a press release: “We’re creating a seamless destination for discovery, learning, and play.”
The app is now available in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand. It will roll out worldwide on April 28.
Netflix first launched games in 2021 with ambitious plans for the space but has since scaled back after its titles failed to gain traction. The company also shut down several video game studios like Boss Fight, Spry Fox, and an AAA studio.
