Trump Threatens FCC Over 'Mixed Results' Comment

It’s clear: in Trump’s world, even a hint of doubt about his endorsees is a political attack.

President Donald Trump has directed the Federal Communications Commission to take action against an NBC journalist for calling his election results 'mixed,' accusing her of spreading 'purposeful inaccuracy.' In a series of tweets, Trump highlighted his supposed endorsement successes, claiming 100% wins for Darline Graham and Mike Mazzei in U.S. Senate and House races respectively. He threatened to report Meet the Press host Kristen Welker to the FCC, arguing that the statement was unacceptable given the ‘recent WINS.’

The move comes as part of a broader pattern of Trump using the FCC to target journalists and news organizations he deems unfavourable. In a separate post, Trump lambasted New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman, dubbing her 'Maggot Haberman' and accusing her of making 'fake reporting' on him.

‘The Press is a Disgrace to our Nation,’ Trump wrote. ‘I hope that Chairman Brendan Carr, and the fine people of his Commission, will take this Threat to our Country very seriously.’

Trump’s actions highlight the ongoing tension between political leaders and free press, with his administration increasingly using regulatory bodies as a tool to silence critics.
