NZXT and its partner Fragile have agreed to pay a hefty $3.45 million to settle a class-action lawsuit alleging fraudulent marketing of their Flex PC rental service.
The settlement, filed in California District Court on April 7th, covers 19,322 customers who were misled about pricing and specifications, with debt forgiveness and ownership of the PCs as compensation. NZXT is now being transparent that Flex is not a rent-to-own program, a claim previously promoted by influencers.
Under the agreement, up to $5,000 in debt relief will be automatically distributed to those more than 90 days late and an additional $1.2 million is reserved for full PC ownership after two years of payments for long-term users.
NZXT's rolling rental subscription offers a flexible gaming PC alternative starting at $69 per month. The settlement process will begin in September, with claims opening around April 28th. Who knew buying a PC could be so complex?
