After losing in court over antitrust violations, Live Nation-Ticketmaster has vowed to appeal the decision. The company is confident that the final outcome will resemble its previous settlement with the Department of Justice and several states.
In a blog post, Live Nation stated it plans to renew a motion for the judge to rule against the states, claiming they did not prove their case legally. It also seeks to strike testimony from one of the states' expert witnesses, arguing that this analysis influenced the jury’s decision on damages.
The verdict found Ticketmaster overcharged consumers $1.72 per ticket in 257 venues—representing only 20% of total tickets sold. However, Live Nation argues it has already compensated with a settlement pledge of up to $280 million, which they believe surpasses the jury’s award.
Judge Arun Subramanian is expected to rule on final damages and any potential breakup orders. Meanwhile, Live Nation maintains its confidence that the ultimate outcome will align closely with the DOJ settlement terms.
