VC Ron Conway Steps Back Due to Rare Cancer Diagnosis

For a man who’s never backed down from a fight, what does this mean for Silicon Valley's tech future?

Longtime venture capitalist Ron Conway has recently announced that he is stepping back from some of his usual activities due to being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. In a post on X, Conway revealed he will continue to support the founders backed by his firm SV Angel but will focus more on treatments.

The future of SV Angel remains unchanged as Topher Conway has been making investment decisions for nearly a decade, while Ronny joined as managing partner in 2024. They bring experience from almost every major technology cycle in Silicon Valley and are now focused on partnering with founders building the future of AI.

Conway did not reveal the specific type of cancer but expressed optimism about his prognosis, stating that he has the best team of UCSF doctors to help him fight this battle. Despite his diagnosis, Conway remains committed to supporting startups and innovators in the tech ecosystem.
