Uber customers in the US can now book hotels directly through the app, part of a broader suite of features that push Uber into the realm of all-things-travel.
Launched at the Go-Get event in New York City, this new feature is just one step in Uber’s evolution from mere ride-hailing to a comprehensive travel companion. The partnership with Expedia Group and Vrbo adds over 700,000 hotel options worldwide for Uber users.
The company also unveiled the Uber One subscription perks, including discounts on hotels and rewards in Uber Credits. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi sees Uber as an 'app for everything,' from travel to dining out and more.
Agentic AI tools like Cursor have accelerated development times, making it possible to launch new features quickly. Previously, such a project could take up to a year; now, it’s done in months thanks to these innovative workflows.
In addition, Uber introduced travel mode for both rides and eats, including a 'room service' hub that helps with last-minute additions like forgotten items or restaurant reservations through OpenTable.
