In recent weeks, both MAGA and left-wing influencers have joined forces, claiming that President Donald Trump’s assassination attempts were actually staged. Within minutes of the Secret Service detaining an alleged attacker at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, social media was flooded with baseless claims that the attack was 'STAGED.'
These claims have gained traction, leading prominent pundits and creators to reassess the 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. Many allege without evidence that it too was staged.
Take for instance Leigh McGowan, a digital creator known as PoliticsGirl, who posted on TikTok: 'This was not a real assassination attempt... no one tried to kill Donald Trump.' The video has been viewed nearly 900,000 times.
The primary evidence cited by conspiracy theorists includes Trump’s raised-fist reaction, his injured ear, photographers being ushered into position for perfect shots and the lack of information about the shooter. However, analysis reveals these claims are baseless. Jabin Botsford's footage from the Washington Post shows that photographers were just doing their jobs, not following instructions.
The Butler incident’s mystery has led to unfounded speculations: Trump’s ear damage, for example, which some claim is minimal and thus evidence of a fake attack. Medical records remain undisclosed, leading to conjecture but no concrete facts.
