US District Judge Jane Boyle has dismissed Elon Musk's X Corp lawsuit against a group of advertisers, including Unilever and Mars. The company accused these firms of illegally boycotting its platform following the acquisition by Musk in 2022.
In her ruling, Boyle stated that X Corp had not proven it suffered harm under federal competition laws. Garm, an initiative aimed at addressing illegal content on digital platforms, was also mentioned but found to have no direct involvement in ad space sales.
The lawsuit came amidst a significant drop in advertising revenue for the platform following Musk's changes, which included reinstating controversial accounts and lifting content restrictions. This led some firms to pause or reduce their spending on X.
Notably, CVS and other defendants argued they acted independently when making business decisions about ad spending, with Judge Boyle agreeing that no antitrust claim could be established against them.
