During Apple's WWDC keynote, the tech giant unveiled macOS 27 Golden Gate. This version features a revamped Siri, now known as Siri AI, which integrates more deeply into the user experience.
The new update is exclusive to Apple Silicon Macs, with some advanced features requiring at least an M3 chip and 12GB of RAM. Unfortunately, Siri AI won’t be available in the EU or China due to regulatory concerns.
In macOS Golden Gate, Siri can be summoned from anywhere on your desktop via a right-click context menu. It’s also integrated into Spotlight, allowing for more natural language queries. Additionally, you can use Siri to ask questions about images taken with your Mac's camera.
Other notable updates include the introduction of Topics in Safari and Custom Extensions, which enable users to create browser tab groups based on AI analysis. Shortcuts has received an upgrade that allows for the creation of automated workflows using natural language commands. Image Playground, Apple’s image generation app, now relies on Google Gemini tech.
Visual improvements include a refined Liquid Glass effect in macOS, making UI elements clearer and more readable. These changes aim to enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal, but only if you have the right hardware.
