Emad Dlala, a top executive at EV-maker Lucid Motors, has left the company after being promoted to a leading role. The departure comes months after Silvio Napoli was named CEO and as part of an organizational shakeup aimed at accelerating innovation.
Dlala had been with Lucid for over a decade and oversaw the powertrain team. Vivek Attaluri, vice president of vehicle engineering, and Marc Solsona Palomar, vice president of software, will now report directly to Napoli.
This move comes just as Lucid prepares to launch its first mass-market vehicle, the Cosmos, built on a mid-sized platform. The car is expected to start below $50,000 and be part of Lucid's deal with Uber for robotaxis.
The departure of Dlala follows layoffs in February and a year-long search for a new CEO after Peter Rawlinson’s sudden departure. Lucid Motors has been navigating legal issues with Eric Bach, its former chief engineer, who sued the company over wrongful termination.
Despite these challenges, Lucid remains focused on streamlining its organization to leverage the strength of its team and communicate further actions soon.
